exploring the world, one place at a time

Exploring, adventuring and experiencing has been intertwined into my everyday life from the beginning. While my early years were spent in England & Switzerland, I was lucky enough to grow up in the beautiful New Zealand! Fun fact – my first 6 birthdays were all in different countries, the beauty of being a June baby in Europe!

I tried to go down the more common route of school-university-job, but quickly realised it just wasn’t what I wanted for my life; so I changed paths.

Working at an organic health food store as the produce manager gave me time (and the funds!!) to plan my first big adventure out into the world. First stop; Canada where I had an incredible few months exploring British Colombia and getting to know my awesome cousins a whole lot better.

From there I hopped over to Europe to travel around with my parents & siblings. Turns out your whole (grown up) family isn’t your usual travel companions but hey; we had an amazing time and I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m a family gal, what can I say?

I cried on all 4 of my flights back to NZ (yes, NZ is very, very far away) after that trip because I knew I was nowhere near done with my travels, that there was so much more I wanted to experience and explore. So I did what any rational person would do; I worked my ass off all summer as a barista and in events, to save for the next adventure – knowing it would be a one way ticket.

Now I am living & working in Berlin after another summer traipsing around Europe, taking every opportunity to visit somewhere new, to be immersed in different cultures and to actually become a local myself.

I believe we are all on a journey to finding what makes us truly happy, and I find the most joy in travelling! When travelling, you find things you didn’t even know you were looking for. And as it turns out, I would rather fill my life with new experiences than new things so that instead of having things to show, I have stories to tell.
